Cracking goal difference "The Spurs" are building up there - three games, three goals, top of the fucking league.

Definitely a penalty, it the current rules say if you block a certain goal on the line deliberately, it’s a red. If it were an accident, I’d say a penalty and no card, not even yellow, would be fair. I think the ref didn’t look closely enough to determine whether it was intentional or not.
Saying that, I think he did move his arm and stiffen it a bit, so both penalty and red was probably correct.

I’ve always said that if a defending player handles the ball on the line, whether accidentally or not, then a penalty goal should be awarded and credited to the player who took the shot.
Under the current rule, it should definitely be a penalty but a red card is harsh.

I thought the penalty and red card against Chelsea was harsh when I first watched it.
Now I've sobered up and watched it again, I've changed my mind. Had he not moved his hand to the ball after and touched it, then I would have said it was accidental.

Didn't chelsea get away with a goal line handball against us last year, but got away with it because it was "accidental"?

I believe the ball is deemed not in play until the keeper has kicked it.
Georgie Best did a similar thing to Gordon Banks and I think the suits were embarrassed to find themselves in a situation they had not realised was possible.
When I played as goalie (more years ago than I care to recall) I seem to remember the only "rule" was that if the keeper had two hands on the ball then it "was his", and nobody else could touch it; other than that it was deemed in play.

Sold - It has to be a pen as his arm stopped the ball going in. You can't keep the ball out with your arm even if it's accidental. Was surprised to see him brandish the red though.

Why was Brentford's goal disallowed - entirely the keeper's own fault. Time to stop the overprotection of keepers - bundle the buggers into the net like Vic Keeble used to!

I'm not saying anything about Mendy's character, but from the MotD highlights, he delivered some top notch keeping.

If Biden can organise the defences of both Spurs & Man U, we may have a chance of staying top - not dropping to 3rd - over the international break.

Bit like the 1-1 when Milner was offside I expect KLOPP will still say LIVERPOOL have been hard done by by the ref.

The red may seem harsh, but it has to be a penalty because it stopped the ball going in. It’s not like it happened just inside the box.
